A little less than 50% of the Red Panda population reside in Eastern Himalaya, while the rest of the population resides in Southwestern China.
Their habitats mainly consists of forest areas, usually with great altitude up on mountains. These areas provide bamboo, nuts and fruit. Within these forests, the temperature usually remains consistently cool. On average, most of the areas receive 140 inches of rain every year, and some spots of snowfall. They also include plenty of trees and crevices for natural homes. These areas contain conifer and deciduous trees, with bamboo below.
However, due to deforestation, many of these forest areas have disappeared, as well as the main source of the Red Panda's food.
